... trifft es eigentlich eher, denn ein Leben in Bildern. Letzteres impliziert vielmehr eine umfassende fotografische Hommage an Grants Lebens, was der Bildband definitiv nicht leistet. Vielmehr streift er Privates und Filmisches in wunderschönen SW-Aufnahmen. Großformatig - hochwertig und gestochen scharf - einfach hinreißend, Buch wie auch Mann :)! Das I-Tüpfelchen bilden die Zitate - auf jeweils einer Doppelseite prangen Foto und ein farbig unterlegtes Zitat, das das Foto treffend auf den Punkt bringt. Einfach wunderbar layoutet.Grant war vieles, ein Schauspieler, der sich inszenierte, dessen private, dunkle Seite (vgl. CG - Dark Angel) aber immer verborgen blieb. Einer der Großen, die bis heute jedes Kind kennt. Und so begegnen wir hier Privatmann - Ehemann fünf illustrer Damen, später Vater, Freund von Hund und Mensch (im besonderen Randolph Scott), als auch dem Schauspieler unvergessener Hits wie Madame Butterfly, Über den Dächern von Nizza, Charade, Berüchtigt, ...Auch einige wenige Farbfotografien sind enthalten - der Mann, der Ian Fleming zu seinem James Bond inspierierte. Leider lehnte Grant die Rolle in Dr. No ab - er sei zu alt meinte er - nun jaaaaa - er hätte das durchaus mit 58 Jahren spielen können. Immerhin war er einer der wenigen Männer, die mit dem Alter nicht nur reifer sondern attraktiver wurden ...Zu Beginn erfolgt eine mehrseitige Einleitung in Leben und Werk Grants - am Ende finden wir eine hilfreiche Filmografie.Dazwischen eine Serie von Fotos, die zum Schwelgen einladen - und die man sich immer wieder gerne anschaut.Fazit: Muss man mal durchgeblättert haben. Gelungene Auswahl eines unvergessenen Stars, der nicht nur schauspielern konnte, sondern auch noch großartig aussah.Anbei noch ein paar Fotos :)
Das Buch ist ein MUSS für jeden Cary Grant Fan. Tolle Fotos!
